Meant for students who are not aligned to the school's pace for various reasons, and/or have a weak foundation that incapacitates him/her from understanding higher order concepts.
In recent years, I've partnered with families to build strong science foundations for their children, with a focus on developing self-sufficiency. When students demonstrate they've become independent learners, I actively recommend reducing or even ending regular lessons. I'm proud that these students continue to excel—achieving As and in some cases scoring the highest marks in their cohorts—without ongoing science tuition all the way up to their national assessments.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes avoiding unnecessary tutoring when students have developed the skills to succeed independently. While not all students may reach this level of self-sufficiency before their major exams, I believe in providing support only where it adds value.
For those who do complete regular lessons, my door remains open—ad-hoc consultations are always available whenever specific questions or challenges arise. This approach ensures students have support when needed while developing the confidence and skills for independent academic success.
There are 3 options: fully online, at your home or at High Street Centre (preferred).
High Street Centre
Why is this preferred?
While learners need a distraction-free environment to focus, most homes are designed for relaxation and comfort. Therefore, we recommend having a dedicated "workspace" outside, allowing your child to keep your home as a space for unwinding after a long day.
At your home or fully online
If you are able to carved out space at home to provide a conducive environment free of distracting elements, please schedule an initial consultation below to discuss this.
First trial: upon registration (fixed price)
Regular lessons: Post-paid monthly. Hence, one need not pay for lessons that have been cancelled.
An additional charge will be added to the hourly rate if I am to travel to your home.
The fees for your child will be determined based on the following factors:
My teaching approach focuses on nurturing a learning mindset and building strong conceptual understanding. Students who start early with me develop good habits of mind, critical thinking skills and reasoning abilities that enhance their learning capacity over time. As a token of appreciation for parents who seek help early, the hourly rate will remain constant for at least 3 years thereafter.
I encourage all learners to view our sessions as stepping stones toward developing lifelong learning habits. The goal is to progress from regular sessions to occasional consultations, and ultimately, complete independence.
Students who join later will need to balance catching up on foundational concepts while keeping pace with more advanced material.
Thus, the closer it is to a formal national assessment (e.g. 'N' level, 'O' level), the higher the starting price will be.
While I accept students up to 2 months before O-Level examinations, I strongly advise parents to begin preparation 2 years before any national assessment. This longer timeline provides students with adequate time and space for meaningful learning.
Every few years, there will be a new price table to reflect changing circumstances.
Should you require me to travel to your home, additional charges will be added to the hourly rate. Alternatively, lessons can be conducted at High Street Centre where there are private meeting rooms available.
Suitable for students who are already passing science in school without relying on tuition. These sessions aim to use Science content as a medium to promote the kinds of thinking that lead to understanding.
TBC. I apologise for not providing details, as there are differences between schools. While I have a general structure in mind, the structure will be adapted to the first student in that time slot.
